Population of European urban areas over the past 50 years

The TRADEVE database provides information on the evolution of the population of European urban areas since 1961.  

It includes an analysis of Europe’s major cities, but also of the smallest ones over a long period (from 1961 to 2011). It takes into account the spatial extension of urban areas.

The first results have shown that the population growth of cities has slowed down over this period.
