The recent growth of digital work has led the European Commission to take an interest in the subject of platform workers: in 2018, the institution’s Joint Research Centre published a report about it.
How many are there? Who are they (in terms of family situation, social category, level of education, etc.)? What kind of work do they do? Under what conditions and for which employers? These are all questions that the report seeks to answer, with figures to support them. The analysis is complemented by a report published by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a few months apart, on the challenges of decent work in the digital sector.
