Gender equality (EIGE)

The European Institute For Gender Equality (EIGE) is an independent European agency which aims to promote and strengthen gender equality within the EU. To do this, the agency uses a valuable tool: an online database which compiles hundreds of indicators allowing the analysis of gender inequality through thematic statistics relating to the labour market, political participation, or physical and sexual violence against women.

This data also allows researchers to follow the evolution of the gender inequality index, a composite indicator launched in 2013 by the institute at the request of the European Commission, with the aim of establishing a comparison between member states. The data used is collected from various European sources, and regularly updated. The online platform allows you to quickly visualise data in graphic or table form, and can be downloaded in Excel format.
