European citizens want a Europe beyond Coal

“People across Europe overwhelmingly want the health, environmental, and employment benefits that come with switching from dirty coal, oil and gas to a universally accessible, affordable and renewably powered energy system and energy efficiency”.

Europe Beyond Coal is a project launched by Climate Action Network, a coalition of NGOs that advocates the phaseout of coal power plants across Europe no later than 2030.

The project maps all the coal power plants in Europe and measures their environmental impact. The website provides information on several issues related to coal pollution, like CO2 emissions and the number of premature deaths caused by coal.

The data, that comes from the Global Coal Plant Tracker, is downloadable in xlsx format and is accompanied by a detailed methodology note.
