Cinema admissions in Europe (LUMIERE)

The LUMIERE database provides a systematic compilation of available data on admissions to films released in European cinemas since 1996.

The database is the result of the collaboration between the European Audiovisual Observatory and the various specialised national sources as well as the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. Lumiere has an extensive coverage, spanning from 1996 onwards and covering cinema admissions across all the countries which are part of the Council of Europe.

The database can be browsed by director, title and release year, and provides detailed information about the number of admissions in different countries.

A weakness of the platform is its structure, which makes the browsing experience quite slow, limiting the possibility to download big dataset in a simple manner.
