Troubled waters
Analysis on the frequency and impact of floods in Europe, aimed at creating the first comprehensive pan-European database on floods through a combination of data from three different open databases.
Methodology
By combining the data available in three datasets (Hanze, Public EM-DAT, Copernicus Emergency Management Mapping service), a final dataset was created covering both EU member states and other countries, such as Serbia, to estimate the total number of European floods, affected regions, and people impacted, without comparing specific years or countries, as the datasets track flood occurrences and affected population differently.
