European migration policy: towards greater irregularity

Analysis on the measures implemented by the European Union in relation to the migration policy, their effectiveness, and the risks they entail.

Methodology

This investigation discusses the origins of the European Union's attention towards irregular migration, as well as the effects of this 'obsession' in terms of hardening of law. The analysis is based on a variety of datasets covering the number of migrants from 1990 until 2024, the results in terms of border control and management, decisions on appeal asylums, and removal decisions across the years.
