Open Power System Data

The Open Power System Data is a project that offers information on the changing energy landscape of 35 countries.

The Open Power System Data can be accessed by researchers and used to generate energy systems models, which often requires rigorous analysis in order to support robust investment and policy decisions. It includes information about conventional power plants, national generation capacity, renewable power plants, time series, weather data, household data, and more.

Information contained in the database are collected from publicly available sources such as transmission system operators, regulators, or industry associations. However, these information are often very difficult to collect, and researchers end up wasting a lot of time in the process. Hence, the aim of the Open Power System Data is to facilitate the the collection process in order speed up the work on actual research about energy system models.

Data is downloadable in various dataset formats such as .csv and .json.
