EUobserver.com was founded in 2000 as an independent online source for news and information on European affairs. Its news coverage has a clear emphasis on human rights, transparency, anti-corruption, environmentalism and the democratisation of the European Union. Under Belgian law, it is a non-profit organisation, raising revenue on a commercial basis through a variety of income streams including advertising and book sales.
