The unemployment rate is steady in France – while declining in the EU

The unemployment rate was 9.1 percent in France in December 2018, compared to 9.1 percent in December 2017. In the same period, the unemployment in the European Union has decreased from 7.2 percent to 6.6 percent.

This means that France has seen a more negative development than the rest of the EU: in December 2017 the unemployment rate was 1.9 percent units higher in France than in the European Union, now it is 2.5 percent units higher.
