New data from Eurostat shows a declining trend in asylum seekers in Austria. At the end of April 1020 citizens had pending asylum applications in Austria, compared to for example September when 2015 applied for asylum.

On average Austria has seen 2237 asylum applications per month since 2008.

In the whole European Union Germany received the most asylum applications, 13,145 in April, while Slovakia received fewest (15 applications).
