The number of asylum applicants from Ukraine to the EU is declining

New data from Eurostat shows a declining trend in asylum seekers from Ukraine in the European Union. At the end of May 2018 254 citizens from Ukraine had pending asylum applications in the EU, compared to for example October when 915 applied for asylum.

On average the European Union has seen 549 asylum applications from Ukraine per month since 2008.

Among the countries in the European Union Germany received the most asylum applications from Ukraine, 156 in May 2018, while Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Romania, and Slovenia received the fewest (0 applications).
